The Brief
To re-develop a lean WordPress site optimised for speed and SEO.
The Solution
The existing site was built in an earlier version of Divi theme. The site admins were keen to keep the familiar backend functionality of the theme so we opted to rebuild in Divi. The designer produced designs focused on improving conversion and it was my task to develop a site heavily optimised for speed and SEO.
I used conditional statements to only load certain jQuery scripts on the pages it was needed. I also optimised all images, using svgs as opposed to pngs to reduce loading times. Caching was set up using a combination of caching plugins and the .htaccess file.
Quite a lot of theme customisation was required to leverage the Divi page builder in order to bring the designs to life, and ensure that site admins had full control over their content.
