The Brief

The previous version of this website was developed and managed by an agency who failed to understand the purpose of the website and were unresponsive to requests to make edits. Rather than being a recipe website with appropriate UX the website functioned more like a blog.

The Solution

Following the initial brief for the website, we had an in depth conversation about what exactly wasn’t working well on the original site and how we could improve on that. Understanding the issues were key to the success of this project.

The direction of the design was clear but I researched what competing websites were offering in terms of functionality to determine what could be done to provide the best UX possible.

The existing content had to be migrated and re categorised. Adjustments to the formatting of each recipe were also needed. I built a custom recipe post type so that the different ingredients could be searchable and the user could switch between measurable units.

Although the appearance of the website is fairly minimal and simple, the real benefits can be seen from the preparation and thought process behind it all.
