To design and develop an ecommerce WordPress website for an art school. The websites primary function is to advertise and sell art courses. It was essential that the site was optimised for SEO and the conversion of users into customers.
Woocommerce was the best option for the ecommerce although a large amount of customisation was required to create the functionality to book courses rather than purchasing products. In order to improve conversions we created the option for users to pay a deposit or full price, or register their interest with an email address. This improved conversions dramatically and fuelled the growth of a large mailing list of leads via the registered interest option. In addition, we created a “join the waiting list” for over subscribed courses. As well as a successful lead generation method, this also helps to gauge demand in courses.
The content management on the site was setup to dynamically populate multiple areas on the front end from a single editor on the backend. For example, pdf course information packs are automatically created from the data stored on product pages. This reduces the workload of the site admins and ensures continuity in their communication of key information.
A later update to the website was the addition of online video courses. This required entirely different ecommerce functionality and temapltes and so we opted to build this as an independent WordPress installation on a subdomain.
The design was kept relatively simple, but elegant with a single feature colour and font pairing to match the branding.
